How We Met
In 2008, Dan and Afton both worked part-time at a retail store during college. Dan worked in the Electronics department and Afton worked as an assistant in the office. One day, Dan was assisting with rearranging the office equipment and had been grouping electrical cords for better organization. Afton tripped over a long cord in the center of the room. In an attempt to still appear graceful, she turned her trip into a little dance move. Dan looked up and asked, “Did you just dance?” Afton gave a little smile and continued about her business. The rest was history.

Our Proposal
The proposal was a plan almost three years in the making. Dan created a painting with a hidden message and meaning using a female robin to represent new beginning and hiding the words “Marry Me?” within the background pattern. Afton went unaware of its true meaning for years, even as the painting hung in numerous art exhibitions, shows, and Dan’s home studio. Dan gifted Afton with the painting in December 2018, including a guide to decode the pattern. When Afton found the hidden message, Dan got down on one knee and proposed. Commence the waterworks.
